Cervical cancer is the third most common type of cancer in women across the globe. It’s become much less common in the U.S. because of the prominence of routine Pap smears.
If we discover an abnormality in your cervix, we may perform a cervical cold knife cone biopsy, or cold knife conization. This is a surgical procedure used to diagnose and treat precancerous or cancerous lesions found in the cervix. It involves removing a cone-shaped wedge of tissue from the cervix for examination under a microscope.
