The Relief You’ve Been Looking For

Sharp, stabbing pain in the thighs, lower abdomen, or during intercourse. These are the most common symptoms of ovarian cysts. That’s where the Fibroid and Pelvic Wellness Center of Georgia comes in.

Renowned for our surgical expertise and commitment to noninvasive wellness solutions, we can perform ovarian cyst removal in Atlanta to help you get back to living your life to the fullest.

Ovarian Cyst Treatments

Ovarian cystectomy is the laparoscopic management of ovarian cysts.

Oophorectomy

With an oophorectomy, we may remove the entire ovary to address complex cysts.

Hormone Therapy

Hormonal adjustments can help limit the growth of future cysts.

What to Expect

Cyst Removal Process

Step 1

You’ll be asleep under general anesthesia for an ovarian cystectomy.

While asleep, your surgeon will make a small incision in the abdomen using minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy or robotic-assisted surgery to access the ovaries.

Step 2

Once your surgeon accesses your ovaries, they will visually inspect and identify the cyst using the laparoscope or direct visualization.

The size, location, and characteristics of the cyst will help determine the surgical approach and technique they use.

Step 3

Your surgeon will carefully dissect and remove the cyst while preserving as much healthy ovarian tissue as possible.

In laparoscopic or robotic-assisted surgery, the small incisions may not require sutures and may be closed with surgical tape or adhesive strips.

Preparing for Cyst Removal Treatment

Communicate Medications

Discuss your current medications with your doctor. Adjustments may be necessary, especially regarding blood thinners or medications that affect anesthesia.

Pre-Operative Tests

Your doctor may order imaging tests (like ultrasound or MRI) and blood tests to evaluate the cyst’s size, location, and characteristics.

Arrange Support

Organize transportation to and from the hospital or clinic on the day of the procedure, as well as any help you may need during recovery.

Post-Treatment Recommendations

Pain Management

Take prescribed pain medications as directed by your doctor to manage discomfort.

Rest and Activity

Rest adequately and avoid strenuous activities, lifting heavy objects, or exercising vigorously as advised by your doctor.

Monitoring Symptoms

Pay attention to any unusual symptoms such as excessive pain, fever, or signs of infection (redness, swelling, drainage from the incision site) and report them to your doctor promptly.

I could not have asked for a better experience with Dr. Davis. She took the time to explain my diagnosis, surgery, and what to expect with recovery.
