She cares for all women across their lifespan starting with adolescent care, reproductive care, through the management of menopause and post-menopausal conditions.
Dr. Hawkins was born in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica W.I. to the daughter of a business woman and a farmer and the son of a civil engineer. Her parents moved to America to attend college, and to prepare the way for her and her older brother while they were cared for by their grandparents on the island. Dr. Hawkins came to the US when she was four and has been role modeled by the examples of very hard working and ambitious parents since. Though she had no examples of physicians in her family; her aunt was a well-respected nurse, and Dr. Hawkins wanted to be just like her growing up. She always had an affinity for the sciences and math, but it wasn’t until her fifth grade science teacher asked her why not aspire to be a doctor and “shoot for the stars” that she even considered being a doctor. Ever since then she has blazed the path for greatness and began doing all she could to fulfill that dream.
With a genuine passion for the physical, emotional and overall health and wellbeing of women, Dr. Hawkins has dedicated herself to caring for the whole person by creating a partnering relationship with her patients. She strives to assist individuals in making informed health decisions through teaching and ensuring the understanding of one’s health status. Her skill set and style allow patients to become proactive partners in their health care.
